A composite material made from wet-mixing hemp shiv with a lime binder, Hempcrete, developed by UK Hempcrete, serves as a natural, vapour permeable and airtight insulation material.

Hempcrete also has great thermal mass, giving it a uniquely effective thermal performance. Using Hempcrete in a building creates healthy, chemical-free and damp-free indoor environments.

Hempcrete is usually used to form walls, placed in combination with a timber structural frame. It can also be used to create an insulating floor slab or roof insulation, paving the way for the entire thermal envelope of a building to be created in Hempcrete.
